Holy Trinity Catholic Primary School

Our Governors

“be perfectly united in mind and thought.”      1 Corinthians 1:10

The Governing Body works closely with the Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team and all the staff.  This is to help ensure that the children at our school, inspired by Christ and teaching, achieve their full potential as we all live out our school motto ‘to aspire to be more not have more’.

Our School Mission Statement is at the heart of our journey together:

Inspired by Christ and

His teaching,

Holy Trinity Catholic Primary School

educates, nurtures and celebrates

the unique nature and worth of

every member of its diverse family.

The key elements for our Governing Body in achieving our mission statement are listed below:

  • Monitoring and evaluating the performance and progress of all the children at the school, particularly though those who need further support (such as SEND and those who receive Pupil Premium)
  • Supporting the staff to teach and care for the children, in a way that also underpins our agreed nine core values.
  • In discussion with the Leadership Team, ensuring that the resources of the school are best utilised.
  • Forward planning with the Headteacher and Leadership Team to ensure that the overall performance of staff, children, and hence the school, continues to improve and be outstanding.

To enable our Governors to achieve these objectives, the Body is made up of key groups within the school, parents, staff, the parish, the Local Authority and the community. This means that some of our Governors are appointed by the Diocese, whilst others are elected. All though serve for a term of three years.

The Governing Body generally meets once a term; a number of sub-committees then focus on catholic life, finance, staffing, buildings, health and safety and the curriculum. Individual members of the Governing Body become ‘Link Governors’ focus on particular subjects, e.g. Religious Education, Catholic Life, Collective Worship, SEND, Safeguarding, English, Mathematics, Computing, etc.

We always welcome views from our parents and wider school family.  I hope that this brief introduction to our Governing Body will give you a brief insight into the role of the Governing Body. If you have any further question or would like to support us on our journey, then please do get in touch with me via the school office.
