Physical Education

Holy Trinity holds both the Enhanced Healthy School Award and the Sportsmark Award for excellent practice in this area. Our Physical Education programme develops functional and expressive movement as well as an appreciation of the benefits of healthy living and fitness. Children follow a full, structured programme in this subject, based on the QCA schemes of work and delivered through the LCP scheme. Pupils in Years 3 and 4 also participate in swimming lessons for two terms.

A variety of teaching methods are used, class teaching, ability groups and mixed ability groups along with individual teaching, depending on the subject, situation, needs and abilities of the children.

This is a National Curriculum subject and all children must have the correct kit to participate in this area of school life. Each week the children in Key Stages 1 and 2 also receive specialist coaching in a number of sports through Soccer 2000.

The person responsible for this area is Mrs Jones.
