Whole-school Mass to mark the beginning of Lent

Yesterday, our school community gathered for a beautiful whole-school Mass to mark the beginning of Lent. It was a special opportunity to reflect on this sacred season - a time when we focus on prayer, fasting and almsgiving, and remember the ultimate sacrifice made by God in giving His Son, Jesus, for our sins.

Thank you to all who attended for sharing this important moment of faith with us. Thank you also to our children. They showed great reverence, respect and thoughtfulness throughout the Mass, reflecting deeply on how they might make this Lent a meaningful time of faith and sacrifice by showing love for themselves, for God and for others.

We are also grateful to Father Craig for his inspiring homily. He explained to us that Lent can be thought of as a time to prepare our hearts for Easter by..

• reaching up to God through prayer,

• looking inwards by making sacrifices and fasting from unkind words and actions,

• and reaching outwards to others through kindness and generosity.

As we journey through this season together, let us encourage one another to make this Lent truly special, deepening our prayer lives, embracing opportunities for fasting and self-discipline, and giving generously to those in need.

May this be a time of growth, reflection and renewed faith for us all. ✝️
